Jane's Old Toe Shoes

Toe shoes that have had a long life

Size: 14 by 11"  Edition: 7/36

Beyond The Books

Did all the wisdom, writings, and mystical nuances help,
bring you peace and satisfy?
Not for me. Not at this point.
Too much time has gone by,
I need the real thing, not the books about it.

Size: 19 by 17"  Edition: 9/45

A Ritual

Inspiration doesn't always do it...
It isn't always there.
Ritual can fill the void -
it's not a replacement,
but a reminder.

Size: 14 by 11"  Edition: 15/36

Work

Men used to work hard and long for years until their bodies wore out.
Work has changed though.
It has become endless, scattered and fractured,
serving something else
whose meaning is not yet clear.

Size: 14 by 11"  Edition: 33/39

On the Edge of the Bed

Could it be real? Having a voice, a friendly voice
that broke my paralysis.
I read that a man in a sinking ship heard a voice instruct him
how to save his life.
Both of our quiet desperation
received help and mercy.

Size: 15 by 13"  Edition: 17/42

A Stone's Existence

No conscience,
no conflict,
no pain,
no dilemma,
no highs,
no lows.
They exist too, though.

Size: 13 by 11"  Edition: 14/27

The Search

Some of us were jilted from early on off the center of our beings, and our lives became one big search to reconnect and find the missing pieces. All was questioned, no stones were left unturned, all the while faking it until we made it, or just not making it, or just getting over to get by. The religions, the secular institutions offered much information, often too much, lined with dogma and rhetoric interspersed with pieces of truth but never enough. We were always outsiders just passing through, looking for others who shared our plight, but unable to connect easily. Who could admit such vulnerability? Many stones were turned over, many avenues were tried to find the base of our beings. Time honed and tested our conclusions unmercifully until what was left standing was close, perhaps the thing itself, not fully nor totally clear, but seemingly correct. It is to certain moments during this search, when a surge of truth appears, that my art and writing address.

The Past

I was raised amidst the hustle and bustle of Manhattan, New York. Many pulls and demands existed from the start, but some time was tucked away to draw and paint. There was plenty of exposure to modern art and the "isms" and there was time spent looking to the past to salvage a partial classical training. The National Society of Arts and Letters statewide and nationwide award was won, some success ensued, followed by a long downward slope and then an eventual upturn where craft and thoughtfulness have come together and a statement is being forged.

The Present

In the mid 1990's I relocated to Florida and have appeared in the Dalphna Gallery in Boca Raton, the Salvatore Principe Gallery and Bold:A Max Power Gallery, both located in Delray Beach. Presently my work can be seen at Gallery 22 in Boca Raton and The Neighborhood Gallery of Boynton Beach, along with the Saatchi Gallery out of London. Recently I have been awarded by the Palm Beach Cultural Council the Artavox Choice Award, the first to receive this honor.

I offer limited edition prints signed and numbered and a small booklet called "Breakthroughs" can be obtained by contacting me. My output is limited and therefore value should be insured when purchasing my work. By doing so you own a valuable piece of what I do and encourage my doing it. Thank you.
