General Meeting

The meeting was hosted by McMow Art Glass.


The theme of the meeting was:
ART GLASS DEMONSTRATION AND TOUR

Taylor Materio, Director of Marketing & Promotions at McMow Art Glass in Lake Worth, will give us a demonstration and tour of their large studio/shop.

Taylor says that McMow Art Glass offers "the best in stained glass windows and beveled art glass, as well as beautiful designs in carved, etched and faceted glass. Located in Palm Beach County, Florida since 1976, McMow Art Glass maintains an excellent working relationship with top builders, architects and designers and regularly ships their work throughout the US, Europe and South America. With our experienced staff of glass craftsmen and designers, McMow Art Glass is able to take every client's concept and create a clearly outstanding work of art for any residence, commercial building or place of worship."

Taylor adds, "McMow Art Glass is dedicated to keeping the glass arts alive here in Palm Beach County. We work closely with local artists hosting teaching programs, studio space and an Annual Glass as Art contest each April. Currently on staff at McMow we have painters, sculptures and masters glass crafters all the way from Germany."

Shanon Materio, Creative Director and Co-Owner of McMow Art Glass, Inc., established McMow Art Glass, Inc in 1977, alongside husband Phil Materio. Shanon has served as a board member for the Art Glass Association of America from 1990 – 1994. She co-chaired the Education Committee for two years, where she taught an art glass business curriculum from 1989-1994. She published “Windows of Distinction”, through Wardell Publications, in 1994 and to date it is the best selling table top art glass book sold. In 2006 she was appointed to Arts in Public Places Board for the City of West Palm Beach. In addition she sat on the Lake Worth Community Redevelopment Agency from 2007-2009.

McMow Art Glass has been awarded the following Arts in Public Places projects:
Palm Beach County AIPP, Western Community Court House
Awarded AIPP, Key West Airport Terminal
Awarded AIPP State of Florida project for health services in Lakeland FL
In 2011, McMow received the Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce, Best Business Award

Shanon is Co-Owner of Alhambra Art Glass Line of Inserts, Propac Stained Glass Business Resources and Creative Etchings.
