PERSONAL WEB PAGE HELP DOCUMENTS
All of the information on your personal web page is managed by an easy to use content management system called CMS Builder by InteractiveTools.com.
CMS Builder allows you to modify the information and images on your web page from any computer that has internet access. Information is modified though the use of a simple text editor style interface, using any web browser (Internet Explorer, FireFox, Safari, etc.). No special software is required on the home computer.
HOW TO UPDATE YOUR WEB PAGE
Log onto the CMS Builder administration page at: http://www.artistsofpalmbeachcounty.org/cmsAdmin/admin.php
HINT: You might want to bookmark that page because you'll need it every time you want to make changes to your personal web page.
Enter your APBC user name and password and left click the "login" button.
When the welcome screen appears, left click on the link to your page in the menu bar on the left side of the screen.
On the next screen, at the top, you'll see when the page was first created and the last time that you modified your information.
Fill in/change any information that you'd like and click "Save" to make your new information a part of your live web page.

WORKING WITH TEXT
You'll see a number of text entry fields, labeled: Artist's Name, Street Address, City, State, Zip Code, Phone, e-mail address, Artist's Discipline and Artists statement. These boxes have some generic "placeholder" information entered into them so that you can see the types of information that you'll need to enter.
HINT: If you would rather not display certain information, like your address or your phone number, just leave those fields blank and that information will not appear on the page.
HINT: You can prepare your artist's statement in your favorite word processor, and after you've spell checked the copy and are happy with the result, you can use copy and paste commands to place the text into the "Artist's Statement " text box. (No special formatting or fonts are allowed on the web page and all special formatting will be lost). Check the result, because some word processors will insert extra lines or spaces in your copied test.
Your web page uses predefined CSS styles to determine the look of specific elements, like your name, Artist's statement, Disciplines, and the titles and captions of your images. The fonts, and their sizes can not be changed.
WORKING WITH IMAGES
Below the text entry fields in the three column layout, you'll see a series of 10 image upload boxes labeled "Image 1" through "Image 10".
Each upload box can accommodate only one image. On your web page, odd numbered images appear on the left and even numbered images appear on the right, from the top down.
The menu bar in the upload box has headings that say:
"Drag", which is not used for your page design (it would allow you to arrange the order in certain multiple image upload situations)
"Preview", which displays a thumbnail of the image that is currently uploaded in that upload box.
"Details", where you can see the current title and caption for that image, as well as the filename of the image.
"Commands", where you can "modify" the title and caption for that image, or entirely "remove" the image from your page.
Below each upload box there is an "Add or Upload File(s)" link.
To upload an new .jpg image to your web page, "remove" the existing image if necessary, then left click on the "Add or Upload File(s)" link.
In the next window, you'll see a "browse" button. Click on the "browse" button and you'll be able to navigate to the folder on your computer containing the new jpg image that you want to appear on your page.
Left click on the image to highlight it and click on the "Open" button. The location and filename will appear in the "Upload File" box.
Click on the "Upload" button to begin uploading the image to the server where it is stored.
HINT: The maximum size of any one image is 1 megabyte. You'll receive an error message if you try to upload files larger than the maximum allowed and you'll have to start the upload process over again.
Once the image has been successfully uploaded, you'll see a window that allows you to enter a title and caption for the image. Quotes (") do not automatically appear around these entries, so if you'd like them to appear around either of the entries, you'll have to type them.
Repeat the process for all of the images that you want to change or add on your page.
HINT: If you leave a blank image upload box in the middle of the sequence, you may get a blank space on your page.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR WORKING WITH IMAGES
Any image on your web page can be either horizontal or vertical in format. .JPG is the only image format allowed.
All images are automatically resized by CMSB during the upload process. Thumbnails of a size appropriate to the layout of your page will automatically be created by CMSB during the upload process. Aspect ratios will be maintained, however the image's horizontal dimension will be scaled to 200 pixels for the 3 column pages and 300 pixels for the 2 column layouts.
On your page, the image thumbnails can be clicked on to view a larger version of that image. As part of the upload process, original images will automatically be resized fit out maximum allowable dimensions, 900 pixels in height or 600 pixels in width. Aspect ratios will be preserved during the resizing process as well.
Image uploads are limited to 1Mb in size. In Photoshop, you can keep the size of your images under control, while maintaining sufficiently high quality for web viewing, by saving your .jpgs with a quality of 10 instead of the highest quality, which is 12. Other photo editing programs may use different terminology but have the same functions.
SELLING YOUR WORK ON-LINE
Each of the works that you list can optionally be sold on-line. All you'll need is a free PayPal account. If you want to sell a particular work, just fill out the sales information block for that work and a buy button will automatically appear under that image. If you've got particular terms for your sales, just enter them in the "terms" field. When someone buys your work, PayPal will handle the financial transaction for you and you'll receive an e-mail from them with all the particulars of the sale. All you'll have to do is ship your work to your new customer.
AFTER YOU'RE DONE
IMPORTANT: After you are done with all the modifications to your page, you must click on the save button either at the top or the bottom of the edit screen or some of your information will be lost.
It's also IMPORTANT to look over your work before you "save" it.
Any time that you press "save" on your edit screen, your modifications will go "live" and will be viewable by the public.
Before you close the editor and end your modification session, it's important to check your work on-line. Be sure to view your "live" web page to make sure that the text, and the images, titles and captions look the way you intended. In some cases, you may have to adjust the length of one of the image labels in order for the page to view correctly.
HINT: If you leave your browser open to your page, you'll only need to press "refresh" on your browser to see any subsequent changes to your page.
THE "HIDDEN" CHECK BOX
At the bottom of the page there's a checkbox marked "hidden". This box is only changeable by the administrator. If it is checked, your information will not be lost, but your page will not be visible to the public.
The only time that this box is checked is if you do not maintain your member status. Remember, the APBC personal web page program is only available to members in good standing. Once the issue has been resolved, the administrator can uncheck the "hidden" box and your page will be visible once again.
