DOREEN McGUNAGLE

Doreen McGunagle, Ph.D., is an award-winning fine art nature photographer based in Palm Beach County, Florida, whose work explores the emotional and symbolic relationship between people and the natural world. Her photography is not about simply documenting landscapes or wildlife, but about revealing moments of stillness, resilience, and quiet power that invite reflection and connection.

With a background in international business and sustainability, Doreen brings a unique perspective to her artistic practice—one that blends visual storytelling with a deep commitment to conservation and environmental stewardship. Her work is shaped by extensive travels across U.S. national parks, Florida’s wild landscapes, and African nature reserves, where she focuses on intimate, meaningful encounters with wildlife and place rather than spectacle alone.

Doreen’s images are characterized by a contemplative, painterly approach, often emphasizing light, atmosphere, and emotional presence. Whether photographing elephants at a watering hole, mist rising over wetlands, or the quiet geometry of water and sky, her work seeks to communicate a sense of reverence for nature and the fragile balance that sustains it.

Her photography has been exhibited in museums, galleries, and curated public art exhibitions, including Palm Beach International Airport, the Cornell Art Museum, and multiple juried shows throughout Florida. Her work has also been featured in national publications and award collections, and she is represented by select galleries and art groups.

In addition to her fine art practice, Doreen is the founder of Doreen McGunagle Fine Art and Spirited Design Studio, and the president of Global Voices for Nature Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to conservation education through visual storytelling. Through exhibitions, publications, and educational outreach, her work aims not only to inspire collectors, but also to foster a deeper sense of responsibility toward the natural world.

For Doreen, photography is both an artistic and ethical practice—a way to preserve what is beautiful, honor what is vulnerable, and remind us of our role as stewards of the landscapes and wildlife that define our shared planet
