About the event
August 23, 2025, 1PM, Using Challenges, Triumphs, and Heroes to Inspire Artists and Creative Organizations.
This will be a discussion by former President of APBC and current Advisory Council member Ed Muñoz based on his just published book. Ed will discuss how the values of collaboration, innovation, and creative collaborations that he used in his many years with the Celanese corporation can be used by artists.
Perseverance stands out as the main value in both Muñoz's memoir and artistic practice. This value represents the ability to push through challenges and remain committed to one's goals despite adversity. In Muñoz's memoir, perseverance is evident in overcoming academic setbacks, systemic racism, and cultural challenges. This value is crucial as it showcases the determination to succeed and grow, even when faced with significant obstacles.
Similarly, in artistic practice, perseverance is essential as artists often face rejection, financial instability, and public scrutiny. Despite these challenges, they persist in expressing their vision and creativity. This resilience is what allows artists to continue creating and innovating, regardless of the difficulties they encounter. By emphasizing perseverance, both Muñoz's corporate journey and the artistic practice highlight the importance of staying committed and resilient in the face of adversity.
The presentation will cover other values, and skills common to both organizations to achieve their goals. Refreshments will be served.
