John Ugowski is a metal artist and painter whose work showcases movement, texture, and color. His formal training began in middle school and continued until college where he attended the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design.

 

After college, John spent over a decade working with renowned metal artist Jon Allen of Statements 2000. There he advanced from fabrication to a lead artist where he was trusted to contribute to commissioned works and was allowed creative direction. Working primarily with metal panels, he developed a style often inspired by the beauty of the ocean with its vibrant colors, creatures, and their resiliency. His pieces use texture and dimensionality to give industrial materials a sense of life, movement, and depth.

 

Following a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, his work became more meaningful reflecting themes of endurance, transformation, and accentuating the hidden. As an independent artist, he focuses on original pieces and commissions that are handcrafted, intentional, and meant to last.
