About the event

Fired and Fabricated

Exhibit features ceramics and quiltsSeptember 5-27, 2025

The Artists of Palm Beach County presents “Fired and Fabricated: A Collaboration of the Palm Beach Modern Quilt Guild and the Ceramic League of the Palm Beaches” at the HATCH 1121 Gallery in Lake Worth Beach from September 5 to 27. The exhibition highlights the work of more than 50 textile and ceramic artists. Coiled, thrown, and slab-built ceramic pieces and sculptures are shown next to hand-stitched and machined quilts, exploring an array of color and form ranging from realistic to abstract. The show was curated by Heather Couch, Dr. Nazaré Feliciano, and Virginia Walton.

Feliciano, an internationally renowned ceramic artist, comments, “The juxtaposition of the soft fabrics engaging visually with the ceramic sculpture is unique and scintillating.”

Couch, a Palm Beach Atlantic College art professor, adds, “Talented ceramic artists from Palm Beach County showcase a wide variety of creative work from sculptural to functional pieces.”

Susan Skatoff, President of the Palm Beach Modern Quilt Guild, says, “Our guild is immensely proud to exhibit works that challenge the perception of fabric as merely soft or domestic: these quilts are architectural, graphic, and bold, creating a dynamic dialogue with brilliant ceramic forms. Placing our work in conversation with contemporary ceramics highlights the shared language of texture, color, and form that all artists speak, regardless of their medium.”

Meet the artists at the opening reception on Friday, September 5, from 5-8 p.m. The HATCH 1121 Gallery will be open for visitors on Saturdays and Sundays, September 6-21, from 10 a.m. to noon, and 4-6 p.m., and Saturday, September 27, from 10 a.m. to noon. Admission is free. Art lovers can also meet the artists at the closing reception from 4-5 p.m. on September 27.

In addition to the exhibition, artist demonstrations and classes will be held at HATCH 1121 throughout the month of September. For tickets, visit: www.artistsofpalmbeachcounty.org/eventdetails.
